Daily Organisation

We are very grateful to everyone for making school as safe as possible. Please read this information carefully so we can continue to look after our children, ourselves and our community.

We have planned carefully for the safe return to school. Part of this planning has been to renew our risk assessment and create detailed guidance for staff. These can be viewed below:

Risk Assessment - Our risk assessment is a dynamic document which we review regularly and in light of feedback and guidance. It operates partly as an action plan to ensure clarity of control measures and gives a route to find specific risk management information.  Risk Assessment
Staff Guidance - The staff guidance provides specific information for staff to ensure consistency of approaches across the federation. This document is reviewed regularly and in light of feedback and guidance.

  • Children's teachers will be visible on the playground to direct them to their rooms.

  • Children will leave via either gate once their accompanying adult is visible
  • Children in years 5 & 6 (for whom we have written parental consent) will be able to arrive and leave unaccompanied from the second week if parents so wish.

All Years

We will do our best to be timely and efficient for pick up and drop off and as such ask for understanding that there will not be the opportunity to stop and speak to class staff at these times.

Please be aware that there is limited parking in the area and it is unlikely there will be any parking on Trinity Lane (opposite Infant School). We encourage walking, scooting and cycling please.

It is highly unlikely that children will be admitted to their class outside of their allocated times.

During the first week of September the admin team will clarify the process for parents of children in years 5 and 6 who have not already given consent for children to walk home unaccompanied.

Before and After School Care

We have contacted local child care providers and registered child minders who offer out of school care, to share our plans and discuss the best ways of working together. We know that some providers have already made plans and have spoken to parents. We are also aware that some are currently considering the guidance before finalising their own plans.

To help providers keep children safe and manage their arrangements we will ensure:

  • Childcare providers are given space in the school playground at drop off and pick up time so they are not having to make multiple visits.
  • We are punctual with the pick up and drop off windows.
  • We release children to those for whom we have permission.

If you use or are planning to use a childcare provider we encourage you to contact them as soon as possible to book places and understand their risk assessments and management plans.

During the Day

Children of primary school age are not required to wear masks in school.

Any child arriving in school wearing a mask will need to take it off and put it away before coming in.

Staff will be wearing masks when on the gate and welcoming children into school.

Full school uniform please and appropriate PE kit.  For more information please - Click Here.

Ventilation is essential within the school building and all efforts will be made to ensure children are not cold or sitting in a draft. The temperature in the room may be slightly lower than normal and children are welcome to wear plain (preferably white) vests, t-shirts, base layers under their uniform.

Uniform is encouraged but not essential for Nursery children.

What to Bring

If we can avoid bringing bags other than PE bags and book bags that would be very helpful with space - Thank you.

  • Planner (new ones will be provided)
  • Reading book
  • Water Bottle
  • Coat
  • Packed Lunch if required
  • Book bag (not rucksacks or sports bags)
  • PE (Drawstring bag)

Children will take part in PE lessons and these will be mainly outdoors. You will receive more information in class newsletters at the beginning of term. Please be mindful that PE is a statutory part of the curriculum and children will need appropriate warm clothes to safely take part.

We will continue to offer hot lunches from the kitchen each day on both sites. Parents may choose to send children with a packed lunch.

In the first instance children, except those in Nursery and Reception, will eat in their classrooms and lunches will be brought directly to them. Nursery have their own dedicated space and Reception will be using the dining room. This will be reviewed as time goes on.

Children will be asked to make their meal choice each morning. Adults will support younger children with this and it will be helpful parents could also talk to their child about what they could choose for lunch that day

For more information including menus and free school meal applications please - Click Here

Packed lunches should be brought in a clean packed lunch box or bag.

Milk Cool Milk can now be ordered and paid for via Parent Pay.

If your child requires recently prescribed medication, please complete the medical form (Click Here) and email it as soon as possible, before bringing the medicine in to school: admin@htceschools.co.uk . Medication should be clearly labelled and be handed to a member of staff at the gate who will check receipt of the medicine form.

We are unable to accept any medication which is not prescribed, named or is without a completed medical form.

Contacting School

Admin staff will be working across the federation and can answer any questions. In the first instance, all contact should be by telephone. It is likely that we will be able to resolve most matters that way.

Office staff will be available to answer your calls during school hours.

There is one telephone system across the federation; your call may be answered by staff working on either site.

Wherever possible, visiting the school office in person should be avoided. In the event that you do need to come to the office, you will need to visit the main entrance at the junior school site as it has a safe operating space. Please wait at the school gates and phone the office before entering the playground.

The infant school office can only be opened by appointment to protect the Nursery setting.
