Friends of Holy Trinity Infant School

At Holy Trinity Infant School there is a flourishing ‘Friends Group’, to which all parents, grandparents, carers and friends automatically belong.

As this is an Infant school, the children are only with us for a maximum of four years, so the membership of the committee frequently changes. However The Friends always seem to have energetic and committed people willing to step forward.

They organise discos for the pupils, hold cake sales on the first Monday of every month, sell ice-lollies after school during the summer term, arrange and pay for the Year 2 leavers’ party, and for Mother’s Day plants for each pupil to take home to their mum, not forgetting the Christmas Hamper & Easter Egg raffles. Every now and again they get together for a social evening too!

The money raised from the various events funds many resources throughout the school, such as ‘wow books’ in the classroom, playground equipment, coaches for school trips and supporting the Family Breakfast Club at Holy Trinity Church.

Their support encompasses much more than fundraising and we believe that the partnership between school and home - which is central to our philosophy - shines through in The Friends.

Becoming an active Friend

The Friends are all busy parents and carers, who work full-time, part-time and look after young children. They completely understand how precious your time is and the fact that you may not be able to devote as much of that time to supporting the various activities as you would like. They are always most grateful for any contributions you can make, whether it is making cakes for the monthly cake stall, being on-hand to offer support at one of the discos, taking on a larger role in organising events or taking the creative lead at bringing some new ideas to the group. All are most welcome.

The Friends hold an evening meeting each new school year in the hall to discuss plans and events for the coming year. Following that, most communication is done via e-mail as it is not always possible to get busy parents and carers together at the same time to discuss plans. If you are interested in taking an active role please visit the school office giving your name and e-mail address - you will be warmly welcomed.

You can follow the Friends’ updates on Facebook at ‘Friends of Holy Trinity Infant School’ and can message them directly.

Friends of Holy Trinity CE Junior School

The PTA re-launched itself in early 2011 and since then it has gone on to raise over £10,000.

This money has been used to directly benefit all the children in school. We provided funding for the library refit and continue to support the efforts of encouraging reading within the school by allowing each Year 6 child to choose a book to leave in the library when they leave for the other children to enjoy.

The playground markings and items of outdoor equipment that the children use during break-times and lunchtimes were paid for with the funds raised by the PTA.

These are the main items that we have contributed large sums of money towards but we also fund smaller items such as the classroom reward scheme, coaches to events, school bookmarks, science competition prizes and many more. We also provide the crackers and tablecloths for Christmas dinner which all the children and the wider school community enjoy.

Our main way of raising funds is our regular cake stall which is held in the playground each Friday. We are always pleased to receive donations of cakes and offers of help to run the stall. We also arrange raffles, 'bags2school' collections and provide refreshments at events.

Alongside the fundraising, we arrange social nights out and get togethers.

If you are interested in joining The Friends we would love to see you at a meeting. Alternatively, if you do not wish to attend meetings but would like to contribute in other ways please get in touch.

Please contact the school office and they will pass your details on.
